Bleak expectations

Written by Mark Evans. Directed by Dan Bools
From the award-winning BBC Radio 4 comedy comes Bleak Expectations— a wildly funny stage adaptation that lovingly mocks the dark drama and impossible coincidences of Victorian literature.
The story follows the endlessly unlucky Pip Bin, a well-meaning young gentleman determined to save his family and find happiness despite constant interference from the sinister Mr Gently Benevolent, a villain so evil he makes most Dickens characters look reasonable. Along the way there are shocking revelations, dramatic deaths, suspicious inheritances, lost loves, terrible disguises, and enough melodrama to fill several novels.
Told with frantic pace, quick character changes, inventive staging, and delightfully ridiculous humour, Bleak Expectations is a theatrical whirlwind of comedy and chaos. Whether you love classic literature or have successfully avoided reading it altogether, this brilliantly absurd production promises an evening of laughter, mayhem, and gloriously bleak entertainment.
